Activity Worker  HEU Grid 8

Hours: Full-time Regular   9.00 - 3.45 M-F

Wages: As per HEU Community Subsector Grid 8

Under the direction of the ADC Director, as part of a staff team, the Activity Worker leads, facilitates and participates in  a variety of established ADC program activities for the frail elderly & disabled clients and assists clients with with personal care and other aspects of daily living. Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner. Records and reports on client progress and health concerns.  Assists with reviews and planning of established activities. Assists with meal service and clean up. Drives ADC bus as part of daily client pick-up / drop-off service.

Minimum Grade X11 education or equivilent

Gerontology-based Therapeutic Recreation Certificate, recognized College-level Geriatric Activity Aid Diploma or other specialized recreation training appropriate for Adult Day Centres.

At least 6-months work experience with seniors in a care situation

Must have unrestricted Class 1V Drivers License and experience driving  a bus or equivilent.

Must have excellent English language communication skills

Must be able to communicate effectively in Cantonese or Punjabi

Must have valid CPR "C" and First Aid Certificates

Must be physically fit and demonstrate ability to work cooperatively in a high-energy team setting

Flexibility to respond to changes in the needs and requirements of the ADC client population
